The plane leaving Seatac was about an hour late. We made great use of the time by talking to various people about why we were headed to Vegas.
The "Jesus Loves Sin City" bus was in the shop, so it was quite entertaining to see 13 people (the first round) load into an 11 passenger van with all of their luggage.
At our hotel "Tuscany" we met some of the Fireproof staff and other volunteers from other states/churches. It was great to hear their inspiring views on why we are here, and God's purpose for us as a group.
We then headed to the Sands Convention Center to set up our booth, the whole team worked at putting together our displays of signs, organizing the bibles, and preparing our booth for day 1.
After that, some of us went with Jessica Nienaber, Betsy, and Rachel (of the stripchurch outreach) to four strip clubs to hand out the most awesome cupcakes we have ever tasted. They were great conversation starters! we also gave the girls touch cards (with Jessica's contact info) and lighters that say "Somebody In Sin City Loves Me". We had the pleasure of sitting down with some of the girls and listening to their personal stories, struggles, and goals. I (Jessica R) was even asked by one person for extra touch cards for some friends, and while she didn't have any children, she was going to pass on the info about the Safe Eyes program to a friend whose child had been getting on to their computer. It was awesome to hear that she wanted to share the message of God's love with others, and to protect others from the adult industry.
We were only in Vegas for the second half of the day and our team was pumped to jump in and share God's love here and NOW!
Awesome beginning to our first time in Vegas,
Jill and Jessica R. (The Sisters)

The USA is the number one country of destination for trafficked victims. The land of the free and the brave has become the receiving country for sex-slaves and forced manual workers. Run-away or kidnapped children are also sold and exploited within our borders and Internet child pornography or solicitation is thriving. (http://www.makewaypartners.org/effects.html)
ReplyDeleteOne might say are you stinking nuts? Church is going to a porn convention. What kind of a church does that? Crazy!
You guys are awesome! I pray the hedge of thorns and hedge of protection around each and every one of you. I ask that Gods give’s his angels extra strength as they protect you on this mission.
This is real, it's in our communities, neighbors, also some of our own homes. Countless men and women are used for this every minute. There are at least 30 million victims of modern day slavery in the world today (US Trafficking in Persons Report).
